Pennsylvania real estate continuing education requirements

Plan your 2026–2028 renewal, check the mandatory topic and choose the right education for a first or later renewal.

The June 1, 2026–May 31, 2028 renewal cycle

Pennsylvania generally requires 14 hours of Commission-approved continuing education in each two-year license period. The current cycle ends May 31, 2028. Completing a course does not renew your license: renew separately through PALS before the deadline. The state provides no grace period.

The mandatory topic for 2026–2028

For renewals subject to the current mandatory topic, at least two hours of the required 14 must cover Protecting Consumer’s Real Property, Personal Property and Information. These hours are part of the total, rather than two additional hours.

A salesperson’s first renewal follows its own course plan

The standard salesperson first-renewal program combines these two components:

  • General module — 7 hours
  • Residential or commercial module — 7 hours

The Commission exempts first-time renewals from the separate two-hour topic for this cycle; the required first-renewal modules still apply. Check your initial license date and renewal instructions before choosing courses.

Check how a course counts before enrolling

The provider and course must be approved for Pennsylvania credit before you complete the course. Ask for the course approval, eligible hours and whether it satisfies your mandatory topic or first-renewal module.

A seminar’s duration or CE category does not establish that it fulfills every renewal requirement. Use the current CE course listing to review the offering, membership restrictions and dates, then confirm its credit with the academy.

Finish the renewal separately

Keep your completion certificates, check your license record and contact email, and follow the PALS renewal instructions. Plan enough time to complete any missing education before the deadline.

If your license is inactive or expired

Reactivation has separate conditions. Education used for reactivation cannot also count toward renewal in the same period. Read the state’s reactivation instructions before booking.
