If this is your first Pennsylvania salesperson renewal, begin with the courses required for your situation rather than buying any package labeled “14-hour CE.” Two packages with the same advertised total can serve different licensees.
The Commission's new-licensee module outline identifies a general module and a choice of residential or commercial practice-specific module. Each module is seven hours; the required combination is the general module plus one practice-specific module.
This checklist helps you compare a proposed purchase and organize your records. Use the Pennsylvania CE requirements guide for the broader renewal rules and current official links.
Confirm which renewal situation applies
Write down your original license date, current license status and expected renewal date. Check that you are using guidance for your credential and circumstances. A colleague's course plan may be for a later renewal, a different credential or an exemption that does not apply to you.
Pennsylvania's current 2026–2028 announcement distinguishes first-time renewal modules from the cycle-specific topic required of other renewing licensees. That distinction is why a generic total-hours label is not enough when comparing courses.
If you are unsure how a rule applies to your license, check the state's renewal information before purchase and ask the provider to identify exactly which education its product covers. Keep a note of the answer alongside the course description.
Check the actual module names
A package title can be short, promotional or unclear. Open the course details and find the specific modules. For a first-renewal plan, identify the general module and which practice-specific module is included.
Ask whether you are buying the full required combination or an individual component. If you already completed one module elsewhere, confirm what still remains and keep its completion record. Avoid paying for a duplicate simply because a second provider presents the information differently.
Choose the practice-specific option with a clear understanding of what it covers. If your work or course choice is uncertain, ask questions before enrollment rather than assuming a general real estate seminar is equivalent to a required module.
Verify approval and delivery before paying
Use the Commission education page for provider-verification information. Ask the provider for the course identification and the requirement it is intended to satisfy. A useful topic and an enjoyable class are not, by themselves, proof that a course counts toward your particular renewal requirement.
Check whether teaching is live, self-paced or in person. For a live course, inspect every meeting date. For self-paced study, check the access deadline and assessment requirements. For either format, read the completion rules and ask how the completion document is provided.
Elite's continuing-education page distinguishes its current direct offering from other coverage. Contact the academy to confirm a specific first-renewal module; do not assume that every seminar in the catalog satisfies that requirement.
Keep a simple course record
Create a small renewal folder before your first CE purchase. For each completed course, save the title, provider, approval or course identifier where supplied, hours, completion date and certificate or transcript.
Record which component the course is intended to cover. This helps distinguish a required module from an elective or another organization's training requirement. Keep the enrollment description or written confirmation as well as the final completion document.
If you study with multiple providers, maintain your own combined record. One school's account may show only education taken with that school. Check for missing documents while there is still time to ask the provider for them.
Plan completion before the final week
Put the course dates and any completion deadline into your calendar. Leave time for a rescheduled lesson, a technical issue or a missing document. Check that you can actually complete the work in the format you purchased.
Before renewal, review your saved records against the current state instructions. Course completion and submitting a renewal are distinct actions. Do not assume that purchasing or finishing a class automatically renews your license.
Questions to ask a provider
Does this package cover my first-renewal modules?
Ask for the exact course names and the required components covered. A total of fourteen hours does not answer that question on its own.
Can a seminar count toward first renewal?
Verify the course's actual approval and component before enrolling for that purpose. A seminar's title, length or topic is not enough to establish equivalence to a required module.
Where should I begin if I am unsure?
Read the CE requirements guide, check the current state source and ask the academy about the specific education you need. Provide your license and renewal context without posting private information publicly.
