Current trainee education components
The Board’s current snapshot lists 87 classroom hours: 83 hours of appraisal curriculum plus a four-hour trainee/supervisor course.
| Component | Hours |

| Basic appraisal principles | 30 |
| Basic appraisal procedures | 30 |
| National USPAP or equivalent | 15 |
| Valuation bias and fair housing | 8 |
| Trainee/supervisor appraiser course | 4 |
The trainee credential and supervised work
The snapshot lists no examination or prior-experience requirement for the trainee license. A licensed trainee assists a certified residential or general appraiser. Later appraiser certification has its own requirements.
Use the Board’s current application forms and experience logs. Its 2026 checklist requires trainee assistance to be documented and acknowledged in the appraisal report and workfile.
Where an academy course fits
Confirm the approval and component covered by a specific course before enrolling. An individual course is not the full qualifying program, a trainee license or an arrangement with a supervisor.
