Start with the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission’s provider lookup in PALS. Match the school’s approved identity to the course seller, then review the course information and enrollment agreement before paying. Here is how to check Pennsylvania real estate school approval and compare the details that matter for enrollment.
1. Look up the education provider through Pennsylvania’s official system
The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission explains how to locate approved education providers in its official licensure guide. Start at PALS license verification, choose Facility Search, select Real Estate Commission, and choose Real Estate Education Provider as the license type.
The guide identifies RE as the subtype for in-state schools, RU for out-of-state schools and RUC for accredited colleges or universities. Match the provider’s identity to the school you are considering. If the school uses a different public-facing name, ask which provider name and license number you should check.
Review the status and dates shown in the record, along with the provider’s name and license number. If you cannot find a clear match, ask the school for its approved provider name and number before enrolling. A failed name search alone does not establish that a school lacks approval. Contact the provider to confirm it offers the course and session you need.
2. Confirm that you are choosing education for the right stage
A new student shopping for salesperson pre-license education has a different need from a licensed agent shopping for continuing education. An exam-preparation class also serves a different purpose from a required course.
The Commission’s education information page identifies Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice as the courses for people starting the salesperson education pathway. Check the exact course names in the offer rather than relying on a broad label such as “real estate training.”
For a closer look at the two courses, read our Fundamentals vs. Practice guide. If you already have a license or previous qualifying education, review the Commission’s guidance for your situation before purchasing a beginner package.
3. Ask how you earn course completion
Before enrolling, ask the school for its written completion rules. Useful questions include:
- What attendance is required?
- What happens if I miss a class or arrive late?
- Are make-up sessions available, and is there an additional charge?
- What assessments must I complete?
- How and when do I receive my completion documentation?
- How long can I access the course materials?
Save the school’s written answers with your enrollment documents.
4. Compare the complete written price
Under Pennsylvania’s student enrollment-agreement rule, education providers must itemize tuition, other fees, and the services and materials students receive. The agreement must also state refund policies for withdrawal, dismissal and the school ending operations before the academic year finishes. Ask for the agreement and read these terms before paying.
Check whether books and exam preparation are included, and ask about rescheduling or repeat-course charges. Also review what happens if the provider changes or cancels a session.
Use our Pennsylvania real estate license cost guide to budget for education and the other licensing steps.
5. Check the actual schedule and support
Review every class date, the time zone and technology requirements. Ask how to reach an instructor, how students participate and what deadlines apply. Our live online vs. self-paced comparison can help you choose a format you can consistently follow.
