Pennsylvania Real Estate Exam Accommodations: Request Before You Book

If you need accommodations for the Pennsylvania real estate licensing exam, check the request process before booking a test appointment. Pearson’s Pennsylvania-specific instructions say accommodations cannot be added to an exam that is already scheduled.

This guide helps you organize the request, supporting documents, decision letter, and eventual reservation. It covers the licensing exam, rather than arrangements for a school’s course or classroom assessment. The official sources below were checked October 14, 2026.

Start at the Pennsylvania testing page

Open Pearson’s official Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission page and follow its Test accommodations link. This matters because search results can still surface old PSI documents or instructions for a different Pennsylvania profession. Match both the state and the testing program before entering information.

The Commission’s exam-provider announcement says PSI stopped administering these Pennsylvania real estate examinations in April 2023. Use the current Pearson program page as your starting bookmark.

Keep two questions separate in your plan: “Am I eligible to sit for the exam?” and “Have my requested testing arrangements been approved?” Our Clarus and PALS guide covers exam eligibility and license-application portals. An accommodation request needs its own status check.

What kinds of arrangements may be considered?

The Pennsylvania candidate handbook describes individualized consideration for candidates with documented disabilities and a demonstrated testing need. Examples include additional testing time, a separate room, or a reader or recorder where appropriate.

Those examples are not a menu of automatically approved options. The handbook explains that supporting documentation may include information from the diagnosing professional and a history of previous accommodations. A particular diagnosis or a past school arrangement does not establish what will be approved for this exam.

Describe the testing barrier and the arrangement you are requesting clearly. A useful preparation note might identify the task that is difficult under standard testing conditions, the effect on your ability to take the test, and the support your evaluator recommends. Your evaluator should decide what professional documentation is appropriate.

Prepare the request before you choose an appointment

Pearson’s Pennsylvania real estate accommodation process uses its Reasonable Adjustments Request System. First-time users register an account with an active email address. The request includes uploading supporting documentation; Pearson provides evaluator guidelines on the same program-specific page.

The page asks applicants to allow 10 business days for review. That is a review-planning allowance, not a promise of an appointment or a particular outcome. After submitting, save the system’s confirmation email. Approval instructions explain how to arrange the accommodated examination.

Before you start, use this preparation checklist:

  1. Confirm the program. Write down Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission and the exam you intend to take.
  2. Check your email access. Use an inbox you can reliably review and search.
  3. Read the relevant evaluator guidelines. Share the official link with the professional preparing your documentation.
  4. Review your files. Make sure each upload is complete, legible, and clearly named.
  5. Leave calendar flexibility. Keep your desired exam date provisional while the request is being considered.

These are organizational suggestions. Follow the actual form and instructions in your request if they ask for something more specific.

Make the handoff to your evaluator straightforward

A short request to your evaluator can save several rounds of clarification. Include the exam program name, the official documentation-guidelines link, your intended timeline, and the arrangement you want evaluated. Ask what records they need from you and how long preparing the documentation may take.

Before uploading a document, verify that it is the final version your evaluator intended to provide. Do not edit a diagnosis, professional opinion, signature, or other substantive part of an issued report yourself. If something is unclear or missing, ask the issuer to correct it.

Keep these records in a private folder. A general academy contact form or public discussion board is not an appropriate place for a diagnostic report. Course questions can usually be explained without including detailed medical information.

Read the decision letter before scheduling

Pearson’s request-system FAQs explain that decision letters appear in the My Documents section of Step 6. An email announcing a status change is your cue to open the actual letter and read what it says.

Use a small reservation checklist to compare the decision with the appointment you are arranging:

  • The exam name and portion you plan to take
  • The arrangements specifically approved in the letter
  • Any date limits or other conditions stated in the decision
  • The scheduling method described in the instructions
  • The final appointment’s location, date, and start time

If the confirmation does not match what you understand from the letter, ask Pearson to resolve the difference before test day. Do not rely on a note in your personal calendar as proof the testing appointment includes the approved arrangements.

If you already booked, disagree with a decision, or need an extension

Already booked: contact Pearson through the official Pennsylvania exam page. Explain your situation and ask how to handle the existing reservation before changing it.

Disagree with a decision: the program-specific process describes an appeal through the request system and allows additional supporting documentation. Read the decision first so your response addresses the actual reason, rather than sending the same materials again without explanation.

Previous approval has expired: the request-system FAQs describe an extension request through Step 6, including a form, upload, and final submission. Keep the extension confirmation with your original decision. Do not assume an old approval automatically covers a new appointment.

Plan your study routine alongside the request

You can continue studying while organizing the paperwork. Keep a short practice log recording the topic, type of question, your reasoning, and what you need to review. Avoid turning practice scores into a prediction of what an accommodation decision will be.

Once the approved testing conditions are clear, use them to plan realistic practice sessions. Our Pennsylvania exam study plan helps structure that work, and the exam-day checklist covers the wider appointment preparation.

If you are considering beginning your real estate education in January 2027, ask about course access and classroom arrangements before enrolling.
